As female passengers travelling on the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) buses reportedly faced several problems, BEST has decided to form separate queues for its women commuters.

This decision has been currently launched on an experimental basis on the congested route in South Mumbai. However, due to the good responses it has been receiving, there will be separate queues for women on some other routes next week.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers travelling on BEST buses has increased to more than 27 lakh at present.

On the other hand, BEST had earlier launched a new mobile ticketing application for the safety of female passengers. In case of emergency, by pressing the button in the app, it will be possible for the concerned female passengers to get immediate help by contacting the police control room along with BEST. It can be opined that the number of female passengers travelling in BEST buses will also be increased in the coming months as operations resume across the state of Maharashtra amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, the aim is to bring a new mobile ticket app facility for passengers by December 2021. This will guarantee a safer journey for the female passengers travelling at night across the city.
