In a boost for Metro Operations in Mumbai, DK Sharma, an Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer of the 1980 batch has been appointed as the Managing Director for Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd., Mumbai (MMMOCL). Earlier, Sharma was the General Manager on Central Railway.

Being a graduate in electrical engineering, Sharma has formerly held various vital posts in Central, Western, South Central as well as Konkan Railway. With his experience as an Electrical Engineer and his expertise in management and construction of electrical assets, D.K. Sharma's appointment is said to provide MMMOCL, a much necessary boost to its operations.

In his last stint as the GM of Central Railway, Shri Sharma had numerous achievements to his credit.

The electrical engineer played a crucial role in introducing the fourth corridor for Mumbai Suburban Railways which includes the Nerul/ Belapur- Kharkopar line along with the Parel Suburban Terminus.

Along with this, he also introduced the Push Pull technology in CSMT- Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express and Mumbai- Pune Intercity Express. The Push Pull technology helped in reducing the travel time in numerous trains, especially across the ghats.

Meanwhile, it was under Sharma's guidance that the suburban infrastructure received large number of FOBs, escalators and lifts.
