Keeping in mind the possible rush of passengers during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has increased the service timings of Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7. It has also increased the timings of Aqua Line 3.

The MMRDA and Maha Mumbai Metro have announced that the metro line 2A and 7 will now run till 12 midnight from August 27 to September 6. This important decision has been taken to enable devotees to celebrate the joy of Ganesh Chaturthi.

In view of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the operating hours of Aqua Line Metro, also known as Metro Line 3, will be extended till midnight from August 27 to September 6. During this period, services will run from 6:30 am to 12 am every day. This will enable devotees and passengers to travel smoothly throughout the festival.

Currently, a 22 km stretch is operational between Aarey JVLR and Worli. The entire stretch is 33 km long and the final stretch from Cuffe Parade to Colaba is set to open soon. Currently, the trial run is underway and the remaining stretch is awaiting certification from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to commence commercial operations.


Time extension

The last train from both Andheri West (Line 2A) and Gundavli (Line 7) will leave at 12 midnight. Earlier, this service was closing at 11 midnight.

Additional trips

For the convenience of passengers and to manage the rush, additional trips have been arranged for Monday to Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday.

317 trips (12 more than before) from Monday to Friday. During rush hour, one train will be available every 5.50 minutes. There will be 256 trips (12 more than before) on Saturday. During rush hour, one train will be available every 8.06 minutes. While on Sunday, there will be 229 trips (12 more than before). On this day, one train will run every 10 minutes, and if necessary, additional trips will also be arranged.
