Local train services on the Central Railway were disrupted on Monday afternoon after a wheel of a goods train came off the track between Badlapur and Ambernath around 1:30 PM. This caused a major impact on trains heading towards CSMT. Trains from Kalyan towards Karjat and Khopoli were also running at reduced speed.

Heavy rainfall since Sunday night had already led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Mumbai and its suburbs. As a result, local train services were affected across the Western, Central, and Harbour lines. Trains from Dahanu Road, Virar, Borivali to Churchgate, and from Karjat, Khopoli, Ambernath, Badlapur, Kasara, Asangaon, Titwala, Kalyan, Thane, Panvel, Nerul, and Vashi towards CSMT faced delays or cancellations.

Central Railway officials said that due to continuous drizzle and the wheel slipping, a goods train had stopped on the up line. A support engine was sent to move the train. Meanwhile, locals coming from Karjat towards CSMT were completely stopped, leaving many passengers stranded. Trains between Vangani, Bhivpuri, and Karjat were halted one after another, causing frustration among commuters.

Long-distance trains from Kasara and Karjat to CSMT also faced severe delays. To manage the situation, slow local trains on this route were temporarily converted into semi-fast or fast locals. However, the sudden changes in the schedule led to confusion and long waits for passengers, especially those relying on the regular slow train services.
