Railway department in Mumbai recently shared a piece of good news for passengers travelling by the Mumbai local train. Officials state that the train between Goregaon and Panvel, on the Harbour route, will be implemented in the next one month. As per reports, the department has planned 18 local train trips from Panvel to Andheri and the same will be extended to Goregaon.
Currently, a total of 44 local train round trips are operated from CSMT to Andheri to CSMT, and this will also be extended to Goregaon. The revised decision is expected to =bring relief to the passengers, as only 42 local train round trips from CSMT to Goregaon to CSMT are being operated on the harbour line.
Besides this, 62 local round trips run daily on CSMT to Andheri to CSMT and Panvel to Andheri to Panvel route, however since there is no local train from Goregaon to Panvel, passengers from Vasai, Virar, Borivali to Malad, Goregaon have to reach Andheri station. Similar concerns have been raised by passengers from Navi Mumbai, whereby after reaching Andheri station, they have to take another local to reach Goregaon.
The demand for this direct service on the harbour line, from Goregaon to Panvel, has been raised several times over the last two to three years, post which, officials, after thorough consideration, approved the Goregaon to Panvel local train. The revised update states that the current local train round trips from the harbour to Andheri would be extended to Goregaon soon. The Central Railway administration has decided to implement this extension within a month.
