The Konkan Railways are to run a special train between Mumbai and Madgaon during the upcoming festivities from October 24 to 31.

This special train will leave Madgaon at 4.45 PM daily and reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 5:50 AM the next day. On the other hand, the train will leave CSMT at 11:05 AM daily from October 25 to November 1 and reach Madgaon at 12:10 AM the next day. Only passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to board these special trains.

The train is touted to stop at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Vilwade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road, Pedne, Thivi and Karmali. As per reports, bookings can be made at special computer reservation centres and on the website with a special fee

Meanwhile, amidst the pandemic, a discussion was recently held between the railway administration and state government officials with regards to allowing regular citizens on the suburban railway system in Mumbai. Until a few weeks back, only the employees associated with the essential services in Mumbai were permitted to travel in the local. However, the Bombay High Court had observed several requests and complaints regarding the need to start the same for the public and has asked the government to come up with a solution.
