A few days back, the country praised Mayur Shelke, the railway official who risked his life and saved the life of a six-year old child at Vangani railway station. But, besides Mayur, another person is also said to have played an important part in avoid the mishap.

Recognising the effort, the railway administration rewarded the express loco pilot Vinod Jangid, who used his sharp decision making skills and saved the life of both Mayur and the boy.

As per reports, Jangid was running the Udyan Express from Pune to Mumbai on April 17, 2021. As the train approached Vangani railway station, he spotted a small boy lying on the railway tracks and also a young man (Mayur Shelke) running towards the boy. Understanding the situation, he immediately hit the emergency break which reduced the speed of the vehicle from 105 kmph to 80 kmph giving Mayur an extra three to four seconds to save the child.

Though it was a few seconds, the decision taken by Vinod was crucial in saving a life, and his share deserved the appreciation. Observing this, a Social Organization based in Ambernath felicitated  him on the occasion of Maharashtra Day.

The incident was reported on April 17 and the CCTV footage of the same went viral. The video showed a young body accidentally falling on a railway track while walking with his blind mother. Just as the express was approaching, the mother called for help to save her child, when Mayur Shelke notice the child and rushed to his. Without being worried about his life, he saved the child in just seven seconds.
