The Maharashtra State Road and Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has planned to run 5000 special buses during the yatra for devotees going to Shri Kshetra Pandharpur chanting the name of Vithu on the occasion of Ashadhi Yatra.
This year, if 40 or more devotees from any village in the state make a joint request, they will be provided with an state transport (ST) bus from their village to go directly to Pandharpur. For this purpose, MSRTC has appealed to the devotees to contact their nearest bus depot.
If there are more than 40 devotees, a special bus will be provided from their village. Of course, all the concessions given by the government like Amrit Jyeshtha Nagar Yojana, which gives free travel to senior citizens above 75 years, Mahila Samman Yojana, which gives 50 percent discount on ticket price for women, will be applicable in this journey as well.
Last year, MSRTC had run 4245 special buses for the Ashadhi Yatra. Due to this, 18,30,934 devotee passengers were safely transported by ST.
MSRTC to help in transportation planning
On the day of Ekadashi, lakhs of pilgrims are on their way to their villages and the roads are blocked due to traffic jams. Therefore, MSRTC will help the police administration to smooth the traffic on the road.
Four temporary bus stations namely Chandrabhaga, Bhima, Pandurang (ITI College) and Vitthal Karkhana Yatra Station will be set up at Pandharpur for the convenience of passengers in order to avoid crowding at one bus station in view of the rush of pilgrims, devotees and tourists.
