Mumbai- The rules are changing and they could soon impact the way you travel in cabs in the city.
The new Maharashtra Taxi Rules 2017 have been brought in for better execution of app based taxi services like Ola, Uber, Taxi for sure. They will also bring the regular kaali peeli taxis under their ambit.
According to the Maharashtra Taxi Rules 2017, aggregator cabs will have to follow these rules.
- Cabs have to use filtered fuel
- Cabs have to activate GPS and GPRS system
- Cabs companies should have their call center for assistance to customers
- Cab fare will be fixed by government
- Fares will differ according to the size and seats of the taxi
- Registration will need to be made by the cabs for every city they want to operate in
- Cabs will need to apply for app based licenses. The cabs will have airconditioning services
- Kaali peeli taxis too can apply for registration under the app based licensing system. They cannot however revert to the meter system as per convenience
- Customers will have the option to pay by cash or electronic means
