After suffering from vandalism of nearly 80 cabs in Mumbai and Thane earlier during the protest, Ola drivers’ strike has been called off by the MNS transport union on Wednesday evening. Uber is still going strong with the protest and will continue on Thursday.

MNS has put forth some demands to Ola like the introduction of Marathi in contracts of drivers and to display ‘Ola’ is both English as well as Marathi. The MNS transport union president Sanjay Naik discussed the demands with the Ola officials before withdrawing the strike where they asked for the Ola logo and stickers to be shown in Marathi too, as the addition would enable native Marathi speaking drivers to read agreements on contracts and also give them an employment opportunity.

Ola officials have not given an official statement regarding the use of Marathi language as of now. The drivers went back to their jobs on Wednesday night.  Ola officials declared that the blacklisted drivers will be taken back within a fortnight, provided there is no criminal record.

MNS has organised a meeting with Uber on Thursday where the union leaders will appeal to all Uber drivers with whom they had gone to strike, to register with the MNS union.
