The country's first AC local rail service had started in Mumbai on December 25, and for the first one week, this rail service was kept functional between Churchgate and Borivli. As per the proposed plan, there has been an extension of the service, beginning this new year i.e. from January 1, 2018, and the service will now be functional until Virar. All thanks to our Rail Minister, Piyush Goyal for this new development in the city.

The railway officials are pleased with the response received in the first week of this local service. So far 6 trains run in the off-peak hours and starting today, there will be a total of 12 services, as six more get added today. These trains will be operated only on the weekends and will be closed on Saturday and Sunday for maintenance.

Of the 12 AC locals, eight will run from Churchgate to Virar station on the fast line and will halt at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivli, Bhayander and Vasai Road stations. Three rounds will run between Churchgate and Borivali and will stop at Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra and Andheri stations. Another service of the AC local will run from Mahalaxmi to Borivali, which will halt at all stations.
