Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has been asked stopped to its ongoing work for not following air pollution mitigation norms.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s H/East ward issued a stop work notice to the rail project's construction work at BKC to built a terminus station.

In the mumbai to Ahmedabad bullet train project, as the starting station of the bullet train is Bandra-Kurla complex, the construction of subway station has started here.

A fortnight ago, the officials had instructed the officials to follow the regulations in the wake of concerning air quality index of the city. But these instructions were consistently ignored.

On Wednesday, December 13, the assistant municipal commissioner of the ward visited and inspected the project site. During the visit, it was found that they are yet to comply with the measures such as installing anti-smog towers and sprinklers. Moreover, covering the site with green cloth is also yet to be done.

Last week also, an inspection was conducted by ward level teams of the municipality. Since it was found that the rules were being ignored even then, the municipality issued a notice of 'work stoppage'.

However, it is pertinent to note that the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), which is implementing the project, denied having received a stop-work notice.

The work is being done by MEIL-HCC, a joint venture comprising Megha Engineering & Infrastructure and Hindustan Construction Company. NHSRCL is following all the guidelines issued by the BMC for dust mitigation at the Mumbai HSR station site at BKC. The construction activities are progressing at the site, a spokesperson said.
