On the occasion of Ganeshotsav, the waiting list of the Konkan Kanya Express departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on September 15 crossed a thousand in just one and a half minutes, an investigation by Central Railway revealed that 164 ticket reservation accounts were fake. 181 tickets were issued through these accounts.

On the occasion of Ganeshotsav, Mumbai-based Konkanites rush to book train tickets to go to their villages in Konkan. This year, Ganeshotsav is starting from September 19, and on this occasion, the railway ticket reservation process was started 120 days before. When passengers started the ticket reservation process on May 18, the waiting list crossed a thousand in just one and a half minutes. Also, the message "regret'' was displayed while taking tickets for Tutari, Janshatabdi, Mandovi express. Due to this, the passengers were expressing suspicion that there was a mistake in the ticket reservation. The concerned department of Central Railway conducted a thorough investigation into the matter and revealed that 164 ticket reservation accounts were fake. A senior official of Central Railway said that after the investigation of this matter is completed, a decision will be taken whether to cancel the tickets issued from this account or not.

Reservation of tickets from less crowded stations

Suspicious tickets purchased online and at ticket windows are under investigation. 86.86 percent of tickets have been collected from the ticket windows in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Gujarat. There has been a significant increase in ticketing at smaller stations, which is being investigated thoroughly.
