Dahanu Local on Western Railway completed 10 years on Sunday and the 10th anniversary of Dahanu Local was celebrated in a grand manner at Dahanu Railway Station. The Dahanu local train was decorated with local flowers and a cake was cut too in a ceremony organised to celebrate the anniversary. A large number of passengers were present on this occasion. Also, commuters and villagers welcomed this local train at stations between Virar-Dahanu.


The first railway in Asia ran on April 16 1853 between Bori Bunder and Thane. It has been 170 years since this incident. And on April 16, 2013, the local train between Virar-Dahanu was launched. So it became more convenient for locals to reach Mumbai. Mumbai office goers, college students, industrial sector executives and employees are benefiting from this local train. It is becoming possible for tribals, farmers to deliver their local produce, perishables to the market at a faster speed.


Western Railway has recently introduced 11 non-air-conditioned local trains of 12 coaches. Therefore, the total number of non-air-conditioned local trains on Western Railway has reached 1,394 from 1,383. However, it does not include a single round of local trains to Dahanu. Therefore, passengers are demanding an increase in local trains to Dahanu. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to increase local rounds on this stretch.
