Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, January 19, inaugurated the much-awaited second phase of Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Soon after this, PM Modi launched various development projects in Mumbai. After launching various developmental projects, PM Modi began his address in Mumbai. 

"For the first time after independence, India is daring to dream big and fulfil them. A long period in last century was spent discussing poverty, seeking help from world & living somehow. For the 1st time in history of independent India, world trusts India's resolutions," he said.

He further stated that today, India is investing in upgrading its physical and social infrastructure, with futuristic thinking and modern approach.

“For a developed India, role of our cities is very important. That's why it's the priority of the double-engine government to continue development projects in Mumbai,” he added.

Prior to this, while speaking at the BKC rally preceding the flagging off of two metro lines in Mumbai by PM Modi, Maharashtra Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that with PM Modi's "blessings" a government of "the people's liking" has come into power with Shinde as CM. He also stated that for 2.5 years, Maharashtra was ruled by a government that was "not liked" by the people while referring to Uddhav Thackeray's tenure as CM.

He landed at Mumbai airport at around 5 pm. He was received by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule. After his arrival, they began the rally at BKC with Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde giving the opening address.
