Mumbai's Metro Line 2B is set to become a canvas for Bollywood's colourful history. The plan was unveiled by Mumbai BJP President and MP Ashish Shelar. The goal is to turn the space between 355 pillars across seven stations in Metro 2B into a colourful homage to Indian cinema. It will include seven stations, starting from ESIC Nagar, Andheri to Bandra.

The decision was made after a site inspection in Bandra West by representatives of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar. The area is home to landmarks like Band Stand, Bandra Fort, Mount Mary, and the iconic Bandra Railway Station. It has been a magnet for Bollywood fans and tourists.

The project is scheduled to start in March's second week. It will work in correspondence with the current metro infra upgrades.

The project will enhance the area's aesthetic appeal and bring attention to its rich cinematic history. The MMRDA has engaged Bollywood enthusiasts to make a complete plan that will include key events, personalities, and production houses that shaped the industry from 1913 to 2023.

The installations will have advanced technology to tell Bollywood's journey from humble beginnings to global prominence. The project also plans to increase community engagement through a "Happy Street" programme with a Bollywood theme on Sundays. It will have cultural programmes and movie promotions.

In a report by FPJ, MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar expressed hope that the project would boost Mumbai's appeal to both domestic and international tourists. The landmark is also expected to draw locals.
