Mumbai Metro Line 3 Licence Space Is Up For Bids
SHARES

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRCL) is inviting bids for licensing space at all 27 stations on Metro Line 3, Colaba to Bandra to SEEPZ. The space will go to the one who offers the best rental rate, a top official stated. A tender for this was called on March 13.

According to the official, a reserve price has been set at a different amount for each station based on the popularity of the area. For instance, the rental rates at Cuffe Parade station and Bandra Kurla Complex station will change, leading to differing reserve costs, said the official.

Furthermore, the winning bidder will be in charge of the internal renovations; MMRCL will simply provide the basic setup. As a result, the official said that soft possession of the area would be given so that the chosen party would have to carry out the necessary tasks. A pre-bid meeting is set for March 22. According to MMRCL, bidders can submit their proposals until April 5 to participate in the tendering process.

According to the concerned authorities, the space's licensing term will last at least five years, depending on the space that is being rented. The goal of MMRCL, a Joint Venture-Special Purpose Vehicle (JV-SPV), is a 50:50 joint venture between the Maharashtra and Indian government and is to raise INR 1,000 crore for the project from non-fare revenue.

One aspect of the non-fare revenue generation approach is giving the available space to rent. The complete ridership predicted for 2025 is around 14 lakh passengers per day, making it one of the busiest lines in the world, according to MMRCL's comprehensive project study. Apart from revenue generation by inviting bids for renting space, MMRCL is also keeping an eye on other technical works related to Mumbai Metro Line 3. MMRCL carried out an integrated trial run for Mumbai’s underground Metro Line 3’s phase 1.

The testing runs cover a number of vital systems, including tracks, traction, rolling stock (coaches), and signal telecommunications, according to a statement from MMRCL. These testing runs between the Aarey depot and the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) are now in progress.

Taking to X, Mumbai Metro Line 3’s official page posted, “Integrated trial runs for #Metro3 has been commenced. Various systems like rolling stock (coach), signal telecommunications, tracks traction etc., are being validated during the trial runs which is being carried out between #BKC to #Aarey. After completion of trials and certifications of individual systems and certificate from Independent Safety Accessor (ISA), the system shall be offered for inspection of Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). Upon receiving CMRS sanction, the section will be opened for passenger services.”

Sharing about work progress, Metro Line 3’s page posted, “Have a look at the #AareyDepot station taking shape. Aarey station is the last and only at grade station of #MetroLine3 having single entry exit points. Once operational, Aarey Depot station will integrate with the upcoming Metro Line-6 and also provide access to the nearby landmarks such as JVLR, Aarey Picnic Point, Seepz Office etc. Overall, 99% of the civil works has been completed at the station.”
