As a part of the Integrated Security System initiative, 30 Western railway stations, and 17 Central railway stations will receive metal detectors and bag scanners
Soon, Mumbai Suburban Railway route will receive metal detectors and bag scanners at 47 railway stations as a part of the second phase of the Integrated Security System initiative. 10 years after the 26/11 terror attacks, Mumbai is all set to receive the security materials at 30 Western railway stations and 17 Central railway stations.
In November 2008, the city saw one of most agonising events in the history of Mumbai which left the Mumbaikars heartbroken and shocked. However, after the attacks, the government grew alert of the attacks and introduced the Integrated Security System initiative. Alongside, the first phase of the initiative, 202 railway stations across the country were secured with security equipment.
Therefore, the recent second phase will witness the introduction of security materials at Mumbai’s 47 railway stations. RPF Director General Arun Kumar said that the government has made a 0.25 provision from the Central Budget for the security of the railway stations.
