Railways to run special trains to Bihar for migrant workers

Over the last few days, officials have noted that a large number of people are going to Bihar from Maharashtra, and the Bihar state government has started arranging for quarantine centres.

Coronavirus spread in the city of Mumbai is on the rise and the significant increase in the number of cases have added to the worries, both for the citizen and the administration. Last year, several migrants left the city due to the lockdown and returned after a few months with the hope to get their daily work back on track. 

However, with the new lockdown being imposed, the people from the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, who have been residing in Mumbai, are once again preparing to return back to their home towns. Keeping the same in mind, Indian Railways has started operating special trains from Mumbai and Pune with an aim to offer convenience to passengers. The report state that these special trains will run from  Mumbai to Patna and Darbhanga as well as from Pune to Danapur. 

Passengers who have booked in advance will be able to travel on the following trains.

  • 01401: Superfast special train will leave Pune on April 9, 11, 16 and April 18 at 4.15 pm. This train will reach Danapur at 11.45 pm the next day
  • 01402: Special train will leave Danapur on 11th, 13th, 18th April and 20th April at 04.00 pm. This train will reach Pune the next day at 12.05 pm.
  • 01091: Superfast train will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai on April 12, 15 and 19 at 11.05 am. This train will reach Patna at 2.30 pm the next day.
  • 01092: Special train will leave Patna on April 13, 16 and 20 at 4.20 pm. The next day at 11.30 pm the train will reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
  • 01097: Superfast special train will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai on April 12 and 19 at 08.05 am and reach Darbhanga at 4.10 pm the next day.
  • 01098: Superfast Special Train will leave Darbhanga on April 13 and 20 at 5.20 pm and reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai on the third day at 5.10 am.

Over the last few days, officials have noted that a large number of people are going to Bihar from Maharashtra, and the Bihar state government has started preparations for the same after observing the rise. On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with DMs and SPs and instructed them to organise quarantine centres for the passengers.
