In response to major infrastructure enhancements underway at Gorakhpur station, Central Railway has temporarily revised the termination points of two long-distance trains originally scheduled to operate between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Gorakhpur. The changes have been put into effect immediately and are expected to remain active until early December 2025.

The Godan Express, which typically connects LTT to Gorakhpur, has been extended to Gonda. Under the new schedule, Train No. 11055 is being operated up to Gonda, with departures from LTT at 10:55 AM and arrivals in Gonda slated for 11:00 PM the following day. Meanwhile, the return leg, Train No. 11056, is departing from Gonda at 3:10 AM and is expected to reach LTT by 3:30 PM the next day. These modifications will remain valid through 7th December 2025. In a similar move, the LTT-Gorakhpur Superfast Express has been rerouted to Azamgarh. Train No. 20103 is now traveling beyond Gorakhpur and terminating at Azamgarh. Departures from LTT are scheduled at 5:23 AM, with the final halt at Azamgarh set for 3:15 PM the next day. The corresponding return service, Train No. 20104, is leaving Azamgarh at 6:50 PM and reaching LTT at 4:35 AM on the third day. These alterations will be in place until 6th December 2025.

According to railway officials, the temporary route extensions have been implemented to support the ongoing redevelopment at Gorakhpur station, where comprehensive upgrades are being carried out. The works include the modernization of signaling systems, the extension and repair of platforms, and enhancements aimed at accommodating increased traffic in the future. By shifting train terminations to nearby stations, uninterrupted rail services have been ensured for passengers despite the construction. All related ticketing and scheduling systems have been updated to reflect the revised routes, and passengers are being advised to verify train origins and destinations before travel. Railway authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to make further adjustments if needed to minimize disruption.

Through these temporary route diversions, Central Railway aims to maintain operational efficiency while ensuring passenger convenience during the critical upgrade period at Gorakhpur. The changes reaffirm the zone’s commitment to infrastructure development and improved rail travel for the future.
