Navi Mumbai: Metro To Begin Operations In April; Know the Stations, Fare, Other Details Here

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) said that the much awaited Navi Mumbai Metro (Metro Line-2) service will start in the month of April. The CIDCO has allocated INR 777 crore for metro service in the budget for the financial year 2023-24.


The work of Navi Mumbai Metro started 12 years ago. Work on the first phase between Pendhar and Belapur was started, however due to various reasons it got stalled. The CIDCO later appointed Maha Metro to complete and operate this work.


After the appointment of Maha Metro, its work has gained momentum and now CIDCO claims to start the service this month itself. Despite all the preparations, the leaders are not getting time. The CIDCO administration says that now Navi Mumbaikars will not have to wait much longer.


The work of first line was handed over to Maha Metro

The CIDCO is developing 4 elevated routes under Navi Mumbai Metro to further strengthen the public transport system in Navi Mumbai. The first phase of the Navi Mumbai Metro is an 11.1 km stretch from Belapur to Pendhar, with 11 stations and a car depot at Taloja. The contract for Phase-I work from Belapur to Pendhar was awarded to Maha Metro.



How much is the fare?
CIDCO MD Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee said that while traveling in Navi Mumbai Metro-1, the fare for 2 km will be INR 10, while the fare for 2 to 4 km will be INR 15, and the fare for 4 to 6 km will be INR 20, for 8 to 10 kms INR 30 and INR 40 for more than 10 km.
