Ram Mandir - The new station at Oshiwara comes as a breath of fresh air for thousands of railway commuters who stay between Jogeshwari and Goregaon stations.
The station derives its name from a 200-year-old temple to Lord Ram in the vicinity. On 22 December, the Western line will have one more station, Ram Mandir. With BMC elections round the corner, political parties are visiting the newly constructed station and playing political games using the name 'Ram Mandir.'
State Minister of Industries Subhash Desai has visited the station, and so has Mumbai BJP President BJP Ashish Shelar. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the station. NCP alleges BJP has raised the issue of Ram Mandir once again and is playing the communal card. Locals, who have a brand new station to commute from, meanwhile, say they don't care two hoots.
