Special trains are run on the Central and Konkan railway lines during Ganeshotsav to manage the rush of passengers going to Konkan. But compared to 2021, there are fewer special trains this year during Ganeshotsav. Passengers will be inconvenienced due to this. As there is no Ganpati special train going from Kalyan to Konkan, passengers will have to face inconvenience.

As 13 days are left for Ganeshotsav, the rush of people going to Konkan has started. But as the tickets of most of the railway passengers are in the waiting list, the passengers are desperate. So passengers are waiting for extra Ganpati special trains. So, none of the trains run from Kalyan. This will cause great inconvenience to the passengers. A large number of Konkanites live in the belt of Kalyan, Shahad, Titwala, Badlapur, Ambernath. But there is no train from there, so it is inconvenient. They have to reach Thane, Dadar or Panvel and catch a train. As a result they have to collect all the materials and travel by local or other alternate route to reach the desired station.

This year Central Railway has planned 226 rounds of Ganpati special trains. Out of them only 2 trains have 3rd tier air-conditioned and 2nd tier air-conditioned coaches. So, some trains are unreserved and some are non-air-conditioned coaches. This caused great inconvenience to passengers travelling in air-conditioned coaches. Central Railway arranges trains from Pune, Nagpur every year. Out of these, only one weekly train runs via Karjat-Panvel. Though Nagpur-Madgaon is the only special train which is regular as it has been running since last year. Apart from this, there is no Ganpati special train from Kalyan this year, as told to Loksatta by passenger Shreyash Patwardhan.
