No takers for the AC bus from Airport to Pune?

On December 16, MSRTC’s started its Shiveneri AC bus service from Mumbai Airport to Pune. However, the service had few takers on the first day. The major reason for the same is being said to be no or little publicity for the service.

Some passengers pointed out that it was difficult to spot the bus stop and people around too had no idea on where to board this bus from. Some of the people even pointed out that they inquired at the prepaid counter and even from the security personnel but no one had any idea on where to board this bus from.

MSRTC, on the other hand, had dismissed this as a teething issue and remains hopeful of the uptake in the coming days. They feel that as more people get to know though word of mouth and hoarding, they can run to optimum capacity.

To reiterate,  MSRTC’s has started air-conditioned services from Borivali to Pune Via Mumbai Airport, and they have been functional from December 1, 2019. The departure of these Shivneri and Shivshahi air-conditioned bus service has been started from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport Terminus-1 to Pune and Dapoli.

There will be a total of 17 services to Swargate (Pune) and three services to Dapoli. Keeping this update in mind, an official logo panel of the State Transport Corporation and a website with the State Transport Corporation and a toll-free number have been provided for commuter's convenience.

The first bus for Pune will start at 5.30 am, while for Dapoli it will commence at 7.30 am.

To make people aware of this new service, the state corporation has plans to put up hoarding at strategic spots to make passengers aware of this bus service and the timing of the busses. In addition to this, two inspectors will be deployed to provide assistance and information to passengers at the airport and to regulate buses. The tickets for this bus service can be booked online at msrtc.maharashtra.gov.in and can call up 9800221250.

Shivneri is also looking at expanding its fleet of busses. They have recently got 24 new AC Shivneri Volvo buses and about 50 new Shivshahi buses are on their way.
