In the case of traffic rule violation, e-challan will be sent in 15 days either by the traffic police, RTO or the concerned department, stated reports. A new notification regarding e-challan was proclaimed by the Ministry of Road Transport.

Transport Department’s senior official, according to certain accounts, stated that during the updating of the rules, the supervision of the drivers violating the rules will be increased.

The rule is to be implemented in only a few cities in Maharashtra with a population of over one million, the notification said. Accordingly, it will be implemented in 19 cities of the state that include Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Badlapur, Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Jalna, Kolhapur, Latur, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Sangli, Solapur, Ulhasnagar, Thane and Vasai-Virar.

At present, action is undertaken by the traffic police and the RTO through the means of CCTV cameras, speed guns and interceptor vehicles with cameras installed in these cities as well as through mobiles. In addition to body cameras, automatic vehicle number recognition cameras, dashboard cameras have also been installed.

It has been clarified that dashboard cameras can be installed in police or RTO vehicles. In addition, in areas where surveillance is being conducted by these cameras, action warning signs have been issued, so that violation of traffic rules are curtailed. Many such suggestions have been made in it.
