With an urgent need to manage the crowd at Parel railway station, Central Railways is planning to make Parel a ‘terminus’ from March next year, which will be a huge relief for the commuters.
Passengers would be able to avoid the huge chaos of local trains as the trains would originate and terminate at Parel providing ease for the commuters travelling towards Kalyan and Thane.

There will be additional platforms and fixed lines at Parel Terminus and the railways has decided the same to reduce the pressure of passengers at Dadar railway station.
Currently, between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM), the majority of trains are operated from Kurla railway station in case of any problem. However, that is expected to change once Parel becomes a ‘terminus’. Along with the local trains, Parel station will also entertain national lines train.
