Political leaders have demanded to reinstate that the Amar Mahal station and Suman Nagar station on the Mumbai Metro Line. This development came after the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) decided to skip a few stations from Green Line.

The Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) national spokesperson, Clyde Crasto, highlighted the issue of station removal. Prakash Phaterpekar Shiv Sena (UBT) Leader and MLA from Chembur appealed to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to restore the Amar Mahal Station.

In his letter to Shinde and Fadnavis, he wrote that although the Monorail’s route ends close to the Fine Arts Society Chembur, the Amar Mahal stop would have greatly improved accessibility and benefited commuters. For folks in his constituency who travel to Ramabai Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Ghatkopar Metro, and Chembur East and West, it would have been quite helpful to have it included. Hence, it needs to be put back on for the good of the community at all costs.

Phatarpekar expressed concern about how this choice will affect the Mumbai Metropolitan Region's (MMR) commuters' hardships and urged that this action is unjust, despite the Metro network's promise to alleviate commuter challenges across the MMR. He requested that orders be sent to the relevant authorities to quickly reopen this station.

Suman Nagar and Amar Mahal stations are not included in the route of the Metro.

Phatarpekar has genuine concerns about commuters, local connectivity, and the people living in Chembur.

Clyde Crasto said that after construction started, five stations were eliminated from the original Metro network plan. This raises the question of why CM Eknath Shinde decided to pull out Metro stations.

Crasto said, “If the stations are being removed from the Metro network, does this imply that the experts who developed it were not qualified? Construction started when the BJP-led Maharashtra government approved the funding. Does it imply that funding was approved without a suitable investigation? The chief minister must undoubtedly be aware that he is squandering tax dollars.”

He said that Mumbai residents will be facing great inconvenience due to the cancellation of these stations since they were carefully planned to maintain Metro users' ease of transportation. As a result, CM Eknath Shinde must respond to all of these inquiries and explain to the Mumbai community why he made the choice.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) opted to remove these two stations from the Metro-4 corridor's (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane) alignment due to space constraints and financial limitations. The decision has resulted in a nearly 3 km gap between Siddharth Colony station, at Kurla signal, and Garodia Nagar station on the Ghatkopar-Mahul Road.

The National College Station was formerly removed from the Metro-2B (DN Nagar-Mandale) proposal by MMRDA.
