Indian Railways is now emphasising on religious tourism by running special tourist trains. Along with this, religious journeys are also being organised by the railways. Railways have started Bharat Gaurav Yatra for the same which will begin from April 28 in Pune.


Railway department will start Puri – Gangasagar Divya Kashi Yatra on April 28 through Bharat Gaurav Tourism Railway. This journey is starting from Pune under the 'Dekho Apna Desh' and 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' schemes. Important religious places such as Puri, Kolkata, Gaya, Varanasi and Prayagraj will be visited during this yatra. This trip is for 9 nights and 10 days.

During this Yatra, tourists can also visit the religious places of Jagannath Temple, Konark Temple, Lingaraj Temple, Kali Bari, Vishnupad Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Along with this, Mahakaleshwar- North India Devbhumi Yatra under Bharat Gaurav Yatra is starting from May 11. During this yatra one can visit the religious places of Agra, Amritsar, Haridwar, Mathura, Rishikesh, Ujjain and Vaishno Devi. This trip is for 9 nights and 10 days.


To showcase religious heritage

The central government has started this yatra with the aim of promoting the concepts of 'Dekho Apna Desh' and 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. The Ministry of Railways is running Bharat Gaurav tourist trains for such religious tourism from many places in the country. It aims to showcase India's rich cultural and religious heritage to domestic as well as international tourists.
