Considering passengers’ convenience, who commute by the AC local train, railway activists have demanded additional halts between Mumbai Central and Churchgate stations. For now, passengers who travel to Grant Road, Charni Road and Marine Lines in an AC local, have to get off either at Mumbai Central or Churchgate and board a non-AC local train to reach the desired station.

But, railway officials are not so keen on making changes as they believe it will impact the suburban timetable and worsen the situation.

Last week, the WR-appointed new divisional railway users consultative committee (DRUCC), raised a demand of additional halts between Mumbai Central and Churchgate stations.

SK Mishra, Divisional Railway manager of WR said that the demand is being examined.

Railway officials said that it will be bit difficult to fulfill the demand as unlike non-AC locals, AC locals take longer halts because of the closing door which could affect other locals running behind it.
