In order to travel to Nashik, passengers from Mumbai are bound to either board a passenger train or travel by road all the way to the city. However, soon the transportation between the two locations will become easier and quicker as Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced the commencement of a local train from Central Railway on a daily basis between Nashik and Mumbai.

Accordingly, the train route has been started on a trial basis by Railways and the local has been run under the observation of Railway’s ‘Research Development and Standard Organisation’ (RDSO), who made a note of the obstacles for the rail route.

As a part of RDSO’s observation, the ghat region of Kasara-Igatpuri on the Mumbai-Nashik route has been a potential obstacle for the rail service. Accordingly, they have made suggestions regarding the technicalities and the safety of the passengers between Kasara-Igatpuri to Railways.

The organisation has asked Railways to implement high standard brakes in the local trains to ensure the safety for the passengers. Also, they have asked Railways to install bigger doors which automatically open and close at the stations. Accordingly, Central Railways has asked the ‘Integral Coach’ Factory at Chennai for the same.
