With a view to increase Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport's (BEST) reach, comfort and make the 'best' of its services, affordable to each and every Mumbaikar, the committee of BEST and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had announced reformative prices and services on Tuesday, June 25

The 15 fare slabs have been reduced to 4 and the pricing will be as follows:

On Wednesday, July 4, secretary of state of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA), Ashish Kumar Singh approved the proposal and stated that the new fares will be applicable from Monday, July 8 as the Government Resolution (GR) will take 2-3 days to amend.

As promised, we undertook historic reforms today for BEST Transport with a view to increase its reach, comfort and to make the best of its services affordable to each and every Mumbaikars. Reforms include: 1) Slashed 15 fare slabs to only 4 fare slabs. 2) Now, the pricing will be as follows: Upto 5kms: Non AC ₹5 | AC ₹6 Upto 10kms: Non AC ₹10 | AC ₹13 Upto 15kms: Non AC ₹15 | AC ₹19 More than 15kms: Non AC ₹20 | AC ₹25 Maximum fare slashed by ₹42 3) More a/c buses, 500 electric buses. 4) increasing fleet size from 3000 buses to 6000 buses over all. 5) last mile connectivity, some mini buses, some standing only buses. The aim is to increase ridership, make public transport more comfortable, people friendly and affordable to everybody.
