The transport department wants citizens not to depend on touts for RTO work but go cashless. To make the procedure simpler, they have come out with the upgraded version of Sarathi 4.0 which will mainly look after learner’s and permanent driving licence and Vahan 4.0 which is about the car registration.

With the help of upgraded versions, the user will be able to pay fee payments online and will also be able to upload documents and identity proof. However, if the net banking fails, then there will be an officer on standby who will accept the cash in person.

Those who are unaware of the online process, the user can seek help at e-governance centers. These centres will help you in RTO related work and will charge only Rs. 20 as fees. There is 216 e-governance center in Mumbai. The RTO officials believe that this move will keep the touts at bay who make extra money.
