On Tuesday, Maharashtra transport commissioner, Avinash Dhakne proclaimed SOPs in regards to school buses. The prominent instructions are to see to it that every bus has 50% occupancy along with that the driver and attendant must be fully inoculated, reported the Times of India.

Dhakne elaborated that they have proclaimed SOPs to bus operators in addition to allowing them to attain impending fitness tests of buses during the weekends when the RTOs will be operational. The state government has also made a notification that staff and school buses will have to adhere to the COVID-10 prevention regulations and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour rules.

The notification is said to have elaborated on how all vehicles either mini or normal buses, should be fumigated before and after the journey. In addition to this, the buses should be kept clean throughout the journey. Moreover, the driver, as well as attendant, must be donning face masks along with the utilization of sanitisers.

Dhakne has told the bus operators to masks handy that can be provided to the students if the need arises. The SOPs also elucidated that attendants should sanitize the hands of students getting on to the bus and temperatures should be checked of the pupils through thermal guns. If the student shows symptoms of cough or fever, the attendant shouldn’t permit students and their parents should be contacted. Social distancing should also be ensured in the buses and every student should be placed at an appropriate distance from others on the bus. Preferably the aggregate carrying limit shouldn’t be over 50%.

Operators of the bus will be required to sign the agreement with the school prior to functioning, and flouting of these rules will face strict repercussions through the Disaster Management Act and Motor Vehicle Rules.
