With Jet Airways facing difficult times and an uncertain future, airlines have sought an opportunity to add more flights with SpiceJet being all set to connect direct flights from Mumbai to 8 foreign destinations by the end of May

SpiceJet is all set to seize the opportunity of Jet Airways' downfall by introducing direct flights to 8 foreign destinations from Mumbai by the end of May.

The flights from Mumbai will be connecting to Hong Kong, Colombo, Riyadh, Bangkok, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Dubai and Jeddah.

In a press release issued on Monday, SpiceJet said that it will be the first and only Indian budget carrier to launch daily direct flights on the Mumbai-Colombo, Mumbai-Dhaka, Mumbai-Riyadh, Mumbai-Hong Kong and Mumbai-Kathmandu sectors. The airline will be deploying Boeing 737 NG aircraft on the new routes. SpiceJet continues to be in dialogue with the aircraft lessors of Jet Airways to procure some of the 737s on a dry lease. 

Notably, SpiceJet’s international flight from Mumbai to Bangkok will commence from May 17 and its domestic flights which will be connecting Kolkata, Chennai and Varanasi will be effective from April 18.
