A sub-regional transport office will soon be opened in Badlapur city. State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has given in-principle approval to this demand. The Transport Minister has assured that the proposal for the land required for this office should be submitted and the land should be acquired by the Municipal Corporation, and funds will be sanctioned for this. MLA Kisan Kathore had demanded this office to reduce the burden on the Kalyan Sub-Regional Office and to ease the commute for the citizens of Badlapur and Ambernath.

The population of the cities of Badlapur and Ambernath, as well as the surrounding areas, has increased in the last few years. Additionally, the number of vehicles in this area has also increased. With many vehicles like two-wheelers, four-wheelers, heavy vehicles, goods-carrying vehicles, one has to go to the sub-regional office to get various permits and licenses done. Currently, there is a sub-regional office in Kalyan. Local MLA Kisan Kathore had demanded a sub-regional office to reduce the number of trips by drivers. If there is a sub-regional office in Badlapur city, it will benefit drivers from Ambernath, Badlapur and surrounding cities. It will also reduce dependence on a single office. However, no concrete action was taken on this proposal.

On Monday, a special meeting was organized in the hall of the Vidhan Bhavan by State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik on the occasion of the monsoon session. In this meeting too, MLA Kisan Kathore raised the issue of approval for the Sub-Regional Transport Office in Badlapur city.

At that time, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik gave immediate approval to this office. Minister Sarnaik instructed that a proposal should be sent to transfer the necessary space required for this transport office. That proposal will be approved. Sarnaik also assured that the required funds will be sanctioned for this. Sarnaik also gave instructions to start an automated vehicle testing center and a driver's path in Badlapur.

Since there will be a Sub-Regional Transport Office in Badlapur, vehicle owners will now be able to get permits, renewals, license issuance, vehicle registration, vehicle transfer, obtaining new numbers, and all other vehicle-related work done in Badlapur city itself. This will not only reduce the traffic congestion in Kalyan but also save drivers from having to queue. This will also benefit drivers in Badlapur, Ambernath city, Ambernath rural and Murbad talukas.
