A survey conducted by redBus, an online bus ticketing avenue highlighted that the most chosen route by commuters plying by state buses was Mumbai to Pune after the opening of bus services. On the other hand, for private bus functions, the most selected route was Nagpur to Pune, further added the report.

The study aimed to bring to light the most chosen routes for the state as well as private buses post the easing of restrictions brought in place owing to the pandemic. Private buses top routes included Nagpur-Pune, Jalgaon-Pune, Pune-Latur, Mumbai-Pune and Pune-Nagpur. Similarly, those for the state routes which are the MSRTC comprised Pune-Mumbai, Kalyan-Pune, Pune-Nashik, Nashik-Mumbai and Solapur-Pune.

The study elaborated that the reopening of services was accounted for over 400 bus handlers on the platform in the state. This enabled them to access major connecting routes across prominent cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Kolhapur.

Additionally, the survey also highlighted that 84% of MSRTC and 55% of private bus managers services were available for booking. It also stated that the opening of the said services has brought an end to the long wait for many travellers who were seeking seamless travel not only across cities but also intra and interstate. They were eagerly waiting to commence their journey post the imposition of the lockdown. On 48,000 routes, approximately 17,00 private and state buses will now run. The company is expecting a hike in demand since people are yearning to return to their city of work.
