After asking to submit the toll collection report, Bombay High Court on Wednesday told the state government to make a decision on toll tax being collected on Mumbai-Pune Expressway by September 6.

According to the PIL filed by Toll researchers, the contract amount has been recovered. So, the government’s decision on the same will be important to observe.

Toll researchers have taken an aggressive stand against the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRD), the state government and the contractors for continuing to collect the toll even after the amount was recovered.

A few months ago, the toll researchers filed a petition in court demanding the cancellation of the toll fee and asked the court to take action against the contractors.

During the hearing of this petition earlier, the state government filed an affidavit seeking nine weeks time to take a decision on this matter. On July 3, Bombay HC expressed its dissatisfaction and asked the government to submit a toll collection report. However, on Wednesday, it directly provided state government with a deadline, Petitioner Sanjay Shirodkar told Mumbai Live.
