The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) is constantly striving to solve the problems faced by the citizens of Ghodbunder Road. Various measures are being implemented to solve the traffic congestion at this place. Also TMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao mentioned in the meeting held on Wednesday, January 15 that dangerous trees, pruning of tree branches, cleaning of drains etc. will be taken up as soon as possible.


A meeting was held in the Municipal Commissioner's hall to find a solution to the various problems faced by the citizens of Ghodbunder Road. In order to provide relief to the citizens from the traffic problem on Ghodbunder Road, discussions will be held with the Transport Department regarding the immediate availability of 100 more trained wardens out of the currently available wardens to help the Transport Department. Commissioner Saurabh Rao also mentioned that planning will also be done to maintain coordination between traffic police and wardens.


The commissioner discussed the work to be done on Ghodbunder Road before monsoon with the officials of the concerned departments. In this discussion, it was said by the Tree Authority that the work of cutting dangerous trees and branches of overgrown trees will be started by the end of January. Also, although the garbage on Ghodbunder Road is picked up in two sessions, morning and evening, citizens throw garbage in many places, the citizens present in the meeting demanded that such citizens should be fined.

It was also suggested that if a fine is imposed, citizens will become aware about cleanliness. Also, Deputy Commissioner Manish Joshi mentioned in this meeting that the roads on Ghodbunder Road will be cleaned mechanically in the next few days. At Ghodbunder Road, where the road works are going on, it is necessary to stop the traffic temporarily while the works are being carried out, but as this is not being done, the citizens raised the issue that the road work is not going well and the road is not in level.

The commissioner said that after the road work, the traffic can be stopped for some time or how to discuss with the transport department. The commissioner also informed about finding the places where potholes occur every year and concreting them there.


Commissioner Rao also said that lane marking, direction indicators, dividers, zebra crossings, where extra lighting is required at night will be provided. The RTO will be contacted for immediate removal of abandoned vehicles parked on the roadside. Lane marking, zebra crossing has been done on Ghodbunder Road. But since the Zebra crossing has been damaged due to dust, the commissioner also directed that color stripes should be done again at that place.
