A bridge collapsed near Karnala today causing a traffic jam on the Mumbai-Goa Highway on Monday morning. The roads are congested with vehicles on both ways of the route as far as 2 km away from the bridge. As a result, the traffic on the Mumbai-Goa Highway is moving very slowly.

Raigad and Thane districts have been experiencing heavy rains since Saturday evening. Due to heavy showers, the bridge near Karnala was waterlogged and thus caved in at 8:00 AM. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
