Two bridges situated in Chiplun and Sangmeshwar of Ratnagiri district will be shut for four hours every day for a period of three days starting Thursday, September 10 as per the local Information Officer. It is said that all traffic has been diverted as a consequence of the closure.

This has impacted those relying on the Mumbai-Goa highway for travel, with alternate routes taking significantly longer. The information officer also said that these bridges are from the British-times, making them over 100 years old.

It is said that a hammer test will be conducted on the bridges to assess the strength. If the bridge is deemed unfit even after this, they will be closed down, the information officer added.
