Two tenders submitted for Mumbai Metro 6 route

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will start work on the car shed in Kanjurmarg of the Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli East Expressway Metro 6 route in May-June. The tender called for this work will be finalised soon. Two companies have submitted financial tenders and the lowest bid is Sam India Builtwell Company. Therefore, this company is likely to get the contract.


The MMRDA has taken up the 15.31 km Metro 6 line to connect eastern and western suburbs by metro. With 13 metro stations and costing INR 6,672 crore, this route will make it possible to reach Vikhroli from Lokhandwala in a few minutes. The work of this route is currently going on at a fast pace and MMRDA is planning to put this route into traffic service in 2025. Meanwhile, the carshed of this route was proposed at Kanjurmarg. The MMRDA has not been able to take over the site of the car shed or start the work. But now the carshed dispute has been settled and 15 hectares of Kanjurmarg land has been taken over for the carshed of Metro 6. In October, a tender of INR 508 crore was issued for the work of this car shed.

According to this tender process, financial tenders have been opened on Monday and two companies have submitted tenders for this. Sam India Builtwell and Ahluwalia Contracts Limited are the two companies that submitted the tender. Sam India Biltwell placed the lowest bid at INR 547 crore. Ahluwalia Contracts Limited has bid INR 608 crore. Now the tender will be finalised soon and the contract is likely to be awarded to the lowest bidder Sam India Builtwell. 


The final decision in this regard will be announced soon and the work will be started before monsoon. While the company that gets the contract will have to carry out the main depot stabling yard, depot control centre, operation control centre, administrative building, maintenance workshop building, auxiliary substation, road, service channel etc. in the carshed. The appointed contractor has to complete the work of the car shed within 24 months.
