Vidyavihar, Nahur and Diva commuters will soon get to use new platforms. With this, commuters will be able to board the train from one platform from both the sides.

Central Railway and Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has decided to build three new platforms.

Currently, Vidyavihar and Nahur both stations have one platform. As the land next to the station belongs to the railway, central railway has decided to build a home platform. Likewise to ease the decongestion on platform no. 1 of Diva station, a new platform will be built.

The length of the new platform at Diva station will be 270 meters and the width will be approximately 6 to 10 meters. This platform will have escalators, lifts along with other facilities. The required funds have been approved for the project.

Approximately 6 crore will be spent for the construction of the Diva platform and it will be done by MRVC. Total 15 crore is expected to be spent for Vidyavihar and Nahur stations. Central Railway will be looking after the construction of the above said stations.

Meanwhile, three new escalators will be built at Vikhroli station in the next three months. The groundbreaking ceremony for the installation of one escalator was done by MP Mr Manoj Kotak.

“Currently CR's Mumbai division has 116 escalators and 56 lifts. The installation of 15 more escalators and 14 lifts has been sanctioned and the work will be completed by March 2023, including three escalators and two lifts at Vikhroli,” a CR officer said.
