Uber on Friday was set to launch its UberBOAT service but the same got delayed. Uber, on Twitter, informed that their pilot project of UberBOAT will not go live on Friday and will be launched as soon as operation issues are resolved.

In a bid to develop water transportation in the financial capital, Uber announced its launch of UberBOAT which will provide commuters with the facility to book a boat from their mobile phones. Primarily, a global taxi aggregator, Uber has collaborated with Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) to initiate the same from February 1.

This is Uber’s second UberBOAT launch across the globe. This launch will offer the users to travel through the existing sea routes from Mumbai’s Gateway of India to Mandwa Jetty and Elephanta Caves. 

In its pilot project, Uber will offer speedboats for a one-way journey at the start price of ₹5,700 for six to eight seater speedboat and ₹9,500 for 10 or more seat speedboat for all the provided routes.

Uber Indian and South Asia head Prabhjeet Singh informed that this initiative has been taken to transform the commute to multi-modal transportation platform. UberBOAT will allow Mumbaikars to book a speedboat through Uber app which will make the waterway commute efficient, Singh added.
