Uber to provide accident insurance to passengers up to ₹5 lakh

Uber announced insurance up to ₹5 lakh in case of death or disability during an accident, up to ₹2 lakh in case of hospitalisation and up to ₹50,000 for OPD benefits

In order to expand its business, one of the world's biggest cab aggregators company – Uber has announced accident insurance up to 5 lakh for its passengers. In case of an accident during the trip, Uber will provide free insurance to its riders across categories including cars, auto and motorcycle. 

Uber announced insurance up to 5 lakh in case of death or disability during an accident, up to 2 lakh in case of hospitalisation and up to 50,000 for OPD benefits. 

The US-based taxi company, Uber serves in more than 40 cities India and has tied up with Bharti AXA for providing insurance facility. However, for categories including auto and motorcycle, Uber has tied with Tata AIG. 

As per the media reports, Uber's Head of Operations (Rides), Pawan Vaishya informed that it is their duty to make passengers travel smoothly and safely.

We have already provided insurance for our drivers. Now passengers will be provided insurance too. This will increase the confidence among commuters," Vaishya said.
