Andheri bridge collapse: WR restored but trains running 20-25 minutes late

On July 3, 2018, Western Railway came to a standstill when a part of Gokhale bridge collapsed on railway tracks between Andheri and Vile Parle. Six people were injured, of which a woman commuter is reported to be critical and is admitted to Cooper Hospital.

The bridge collapse severely affected rail services by suspending locals between Andheri and Churchgate and Andheri and CSTM. Mumbai fire brigade and NDRF team were deployed to clear off the debris. Around 2:20 pm, the Virar-bound train left Goregaon and CSTM-bound train left Bandra station. 12-hours later, first CSTM-bound train left Andheri station. Then after 16 hours of clearing the debris, the first Churchgate-bound train left Andheri station.

Though Mumbaikars have heaved a sigh of relief, locals at WR are running 20-25 minutes late. Trains are running on both slow and fast line but at a slow pace.
