The Indian Railways is gearing up to flag off the much-anticipated Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express train service on June 3. However, it will commence its operation regularly from June 4.

This latest addition to Maharashtra's rail network marks the fifth Vande Bharat Express in the state and the fourth in Mumbai. Moreover, with this launch, Vande Bharat will be operational on 19 routes.

One of the significant highlights of the 19th Vande Bharat Express is its potential to reduce travel time between Goa and Mumbai. The train is expected to complete the journey in approximately eight hours, offering a time-saving advantage of 45 minutes over the current fastest train on the same route, the Tejas Express.

The Integral Coach Factory, who is the manufacturer of the Vande Bharat, said that they have dispatched an eight-car train at Madgaon.

The final decision on the number of carriages for the train is yet to be communicated by the Railway Board. However, it is expected that the Vande Bharat Express will feature 8 or 16 number of carriages.

An experimental run conducted two weeks ago demonstrated the train's capabilities. The train departed from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) platform 7 at 5:30 am, the train arrived at Madgaon station in Goa at 12:50 pm. To ensure the train's punctuality and maintain its speed, the timetable will include brief stops at strategic locations.

Though the final stops and timings of the trains will be updated by the Railway once the official announcement is out.
