Maharashtra Government for the very first time has conducted an online survey in connection with the fare of black-yellow taxis, Ola/Uber and auto rickshaws. The common people will decide the tariffs which were in the hands of the union. A four-member Khatua Committee, headed by former IAS BC Khatua was formed in the process of fixing upper and lower limit for application based taxis.

With just 1050 responses so far to the survey, a decision has been taken to extend the deadline to 31 May and also to make forms available offline in Regional Transport Offices (RTO). The survey had various types of questions which includes mode of travelling, probable fares, digital payment options, mobile application and how much are people willing to pay for AC ride.

AL Quadros, leader of the union stated that the fare of the black-yellow taxi is Rs 22/km. We don’t have any issue with the fare, in the month of June app regarding black-yellow taxi will be launched. Thus passengers can book the black-yellow taxi through their mobile phones. But the passengers will have to pay Rs 30/km once they book from the app.
