On Tuesday, October 6, the Western Railway services got disrupted as there was an overhead wire snap at the Nalasopara station. As per reports, the restoration work is underway.

The services on the Churchgate-bound fast corridor halted after the overhead wire, from which power is drawn to run the train, snapped at around 6:30 am at the Nalasopara station in neighbouring Palghar district. Moreover, Mumbai-bound long-distance train was also held up at Nalasopara.

Earlier, Western Railway said that it would introduce six fresh local train services out of which two will be for females and will operate during peak hours adding that 506 trains will operate on a daily basis between Churchgate and Virar stations.

The Railway Board has been running 500 special trains for essential workers at the moment along with state and government employees amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus. The special suburban trains and stations are regularly sanitized and cleaned in order to upkeep proper hygiene to contain the spread of the contagious disease. The local trains which were earlier suspended in March have resumed operations for essential staff only. However, the state government has requested the commuters to follow social distancing norms and wear masks, while boarding, aligning at railway stations and travelling in special suburban trains in view of the pandemic.
