Central Railway has decided to provide in-car WiFi facility under the 'Content of Demand' scheme. At present, there are 165 local trains in the convoy and it is understood that work is being done to install WiFi in each of these local coaches.

Now, Mumbaikars will get Wi-Fi in local trains soon for real. According to officials, this facility will be available to the passengers within the next few months.

For this, Central Railways has started the work of installing Wi-Fi in the coaches of the local and it is in the final stage.

Many commuters face network issues while travelling to their destinations. Besides, it will be a relief for all the passengers who want to watch movies, series or songs on their mobiles for entertainment can enjoy without any hindrances.

Central Railway has decided to provide in-car Wi-Fi facility under the 'Content of Demand' scheme. At present, there are 165 local trains in the convoy and it is understood that work is being done to install Wi-Fi in each of these local coaches. As per data, Thane and Panvel on the Central line and Andheri on the Western line are stations that record maximum use of Wi-Fi data.

The commuters need to download an application to avail the Wi-Fi access. After the app has been installed there is no need of internet data to use online services. The app will be made by the company which has been given the job of Wi-Fi.

Railways have issued an order that nothing related to religious, political or pornographic topics can be viewed through this app. Central Railways has signed a five-year agreement with the company providing the facility.

One of the officials had said that the router and LAN will be installed inside the coaches and there will be a firewall to cover a certain distance beyond which the WiFi will get disabled.

Currently, most of the city's railway stations are WiFi-enabled. Initially, the Railway authorities had decided to install the connection in long-distance trains like that of Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express and later, in the city's local trains.
