A woman had a narrow escape from death when she fell on the platform after losing her balance while alighting from a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-bound local train at Kanjurmarg. She was fortunate to be rescued just in time by an alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable.
The incident took place at 3:00 pm on Tuesday at Kanjurmarg’s platform number 2. As Poonam Chetan (22) alighted on the platform from the train, her saree got entangled in the gap between the train and platform and got pulled under the train. RPF personnel Rajkamal rushed to save her upon hearing her screams.
The incident was captured on CCTV. In the video, Poonam is seen being pulled under the train which was about to leave the platform. Rajkamal chases her even as she was being dragged, grabs her hand, pulls her out and then falls down after he loses his balance. Poonam is seen being dragged a few more metres before she miraculously comes onto the platform.
RPF personnel, Rajkamal, will be felicitated for his brave deed.
